New York, Frankfurt, Tokio, Shanghai, Dubai – No matter which Metropolis we look upon: The landmarks of money and power grow skywards, their facades gleaming, seemingly transparent and yet repellent, forbidding.
The photographic work of Marina Herrmann doesn’t aim to give a realistic representation of places or architecture. The artist rather focuses on and brings to light subtle, parenthetical Elements of the urban image, taking shape in unexpected patterns, structures and colours. Combining photography with elements of painting and graphics, she offers a kind of analysis of the city she depicts.
